Born of the perspective of separation, a perspective that says you are a separate and independent "me" inside a body and that there are other separate independent others all around you, there’s a prevailing tendency to hold yourself completely apart from what you are observing. Here you are, and over there is the event, other person, or circumstance you are looking at.
From this perspective of separation, from this perspective of being isolated from and external to what you are observing, any effort to change, shift, or transform the apparently external situation or event, creates a push and pull relationship, an energetic tug of war.
When you are external to a situation, whatever focus or action you exert on that situation will be echoed back to you – what you push against, pushes right back against you because that is the relationship you have created. The aggressor and the one being attacked, the perpetrator and the victim, these relationships exist in a dualistic dance of opposites where one party has more power than the other. By your own creation of creating yourself as separate from the thing you are observing, you have chosen to play in this realm of duality, in the realm of cause and effect, in the realm of power plays, in the realm of push and push back or pull and be pulled. If this game of tug of war with the patterns and personas showing up in your world isn’t what you’re after, you have alternative ways of organizing and perceiving yourself and your world that you can leverage.
A more useful pattern as an alternative for any conscious or deliberate creator is to unify yourself with the thing being observed, to create yourself as one with whatever is being observed. You look at whatever you are looking at with the recognition that what you're encountering is an aspect of your own being. If it's evoking or stirring some reaction within you, if the situation is activating some energy within you, whether positive and desired or not, you recognize that this pattern or persona is an extension of your own being. By doing this, by recognizing the energetic continuity between you and what you're observing or encountering, you engage with your reality in a new way where all you have to do to experience something different is change yourself.
The journey from ego consciousness to unified consciousness is one that requires you dissolve and unravel the tendency to see your being as separate, isolated, and fragmented from the world and apparent others around you. Awareness is One. Consciousness is One. You project all the characteristics of otherness you experience within your own pysche. It is within your own awareness that you generate representations and then live in reaction to those representations. When you cease this habituated activity of ego consciousness, the awareness that emerges is one that recognizes the continuity of intelligence that forms all forms.
As you bring yourself to notice that you and the thing being observed are the same, that all that is arising is within the field of your awareness and so contained within your being, as you observe this thread of energetic unification between you and that thing over there, and then modify or change the energy you are being, the reflective experience automatically also changes. Energetic charges are neutralized, contraction and tension is released, and the unobstructed flow of energy through the layers of your being is restored. Because you and the thing are not separate, because you have moved yourself into a reality where separation does not exist, you transcend the limitations of a dualistic playground and live in a unified realm of being, a realm wherein you realize that all you ever come across are the knots and coloring's active within your own nonlocal psyche.
Reality conforms to your rules and modes of observation – reality engages with you within the confines of your own parameters. If you observe yourself as separate, then the reality you experience conforms to the rules of separation, duality. If you observe yourself as a unified whole, then the reality you experience conforms to the rules of oneness and indivisibility. From the standpoint of a unified perception, when you change, everything else also changes right along with you. Because you are a unified whole – because you are a holographic whole, every change is a total and complete change of the whole system at all levels. Each platform of observation in waking reality has its own rules – each playing field offers you a different quality of experience.
So it’s primarily up to you to notice what platform of observation you’re looking out from, are you looking at yourself in all directions, are you seeing yourself in all the events and circumstances arising, or are you seeing something other than yourself, some external ‘other’, some separate ‘something else’ – what you decide you see determines how you engage with what you see, and how what you see in turn engages with you. Contain the reality field inside yourself. Recognize that you are the very atmospheric energy of all that you observe, and from that level of being you will mold and fold your world differently.
Useful questions to play with:
Am I observing this as a separate occurrence?
Is this pattern outside of me?
Am I one with what I’m observing?
Am I the field in which this shows up or am I a pattern inside the field?
Notice your orientation, your angle of observation, and you’ll identify your location within the consciousness grid. The broader you go, the more expanded and inclusive your sphere of reference, the more leverage and influence you’ll have in your waking reality game.
