All of the states you experience psychologically and emotionally are anchored and reflected in your physical body. You have a physiology of expansion, and you have a physiology of limitation. Knowing what your specific physiology to the states of limitations you experience is a vital part of self-awareness and self-evolution. When you experience any state, a question to ask yourself is: how am I creating and holding this state in my body, in my muscles, in my posture?
The psychological and emotional states you experience, are held and expressed in the body as different organizations or different structuring of muscle groups. By contracting the various connective tissues of the body, you manipulate (usually unconsciously) the natural flow of energy through the physical body. You have an internal posture for openness and approachability, you have an inner posture for shame and inferiority, you have an internal posture for manufactured power and superiority, and you have an internal posture for real power and flow.
All of the states you experience wherein you hold yourself as more than or less than, that inflate or deflate you, all have a corresponding set of contractions and constrictions in the body. Imagine your energy field expanding and contracting like a balloon being inflated and deflated. Such expansions and contractions arise holistically, it is a reflection of what you’re doing in your mental, emotional, and physical energy fields.
Through mindfulness and by asking yourself open-ended questions about how you’re holding a state in your body, you can create new, more optimal physiological conditioning – one that supports and enhances the natural flow of your full and limitless potential moment after moment. In that knowledge of how you’re holding a specific state in your body, in that ignition of self-awareness, you bring an opportunity to undo the old structure and replace it with new more useful internal structuring. If you’re feeling disempowered in any given moment, explore how you are holding that state.
There are many micro-movements you create as you move about your day to day experience. In every conversation, in every interaction, in every activity you are physiologically expressing mental and emotional states. Condition yourself to be fully aware at this level, and you’ll give yourself another layer of self-regulative strength. You can at all times and in all ways bring yourself back to the flow of your true essence, your true empowered and limitless Self.
