If there’s any aspect or event in your experience causing you distress or any level of discomfort, there is likely a pattern of thought running that you’ve rehearsed and continue to rehearse. One of the first steps to making a shift is recognizing what that pattern is and labeling it as a program that needs to change. Creating awareness around what programs you are running sets you up for freedom from those programs. When you recognize a belief to be a belief you’re that much closer to shifting out of the old and into the new.
Every feeling being generated, every contraction at your heart, or every tension in your gut, and anywhere else where you’re feeling discomfort, is an indication of some negative thought pattern. Feeling frustrated, feeling annoyed, feeling disgusted, feeling disappointed, feeling like you’re just “so sick of” something, feeling concerned, feeling any emotion of the sort is indicating to you that you have a program running that is disruptive to your energy flow. You’re not in pain because of some situation or individual, you’re in pain because of the program that’s been activated in your nervous system.
Take a look internally and see what feelings are floating about right now and what feelings have been floating about over the last few weeks for you. What have you been feeling about all the aspects of your life – from your home, to your relationships, to your work or career, to your health? Take the time to record what’s been going on with you in every area of your life. Put it out in front of you. Write it out. Wherever you see that you have some negative emotion, take it a step further and write down what thought patterns are active there. What’s the story? What’s the narrative? Without judgement simply record all the thoughts running around on the topic. If it’s some version of “how am I going to deal with this? I don’t like this. This is wrong. This shouldn’t be this way” you have found your program.
It isn’t the situations or people of your waking reality that cause you distress. It’s the patterns of thinking and feeling, the programs you start to run inside yourself in response to situations and people that cause you discomfort. Wherever you feel any level or resistance, tension, or contraction in your life, you have to ask yourself: what program am I running here? What program have I been running here? Let yourself fully explore your own psyche first and see what’s been rooted there around the topic where you’ve found negative feelings.
A narrative or program that keeps you in flow sounds and feels something like: “life always works out for me. Everything always works out for me. Life is so good to me. Everything happens for my benefit. Things just keep getting better and better.” Regardless of what arises or who shows up, when your default response is calibrated to be one of positive expectation, you’ll find yourself moving through your moments with ease and a sense of all-is-well-ness. It’s always a useful practice to check where you are in your life and bring yourself out of programs that only serve to perpetuate discomfort.
You never need to run programs that don’t feel good. Your nervous system, your energy field, your perception is yours to manage, yours to monitor, yours to own, yours to fill only with information and energies you find useful. What keeps you moving forward, what keeps you feeling connected, what keeps you feeling like you’re vibing high is the programs you’re running whether conscious or not. You have to look in daily and see what it is you have running – it’s in doing so that you can adjust your psychology to suit and serve only your highest and best.
