When you are in your balanced flow of energy and power, you know you matter fully and completely just as you are. You unquestioningly and firmly know that your needs, wants, and desires all matter as much as anyone else’s – no excuses, no justifications, no delays, no qualifications, no explanations – you matter in every way just for existing and being this unique being that you are. When you are in your power, there is no amount of belittlement or dismissal from others that will sway or deter you from knowing the magnificence of your being. When you are in your power, you wholeheartedly know that your value, your worth, your importance is equal to everyone else’s on this planet.
Self-empowerment is about living your moments from the center of power within you. This requires that you achieve a balance between saying yes to the events and people around you (extend out, express, connect, and include) and saying “no thank you” and firming up your boundaries. What ensures and affirms the reality that you matter is this ability to regulate your energy flow in the ways that elevate, expand, and energize you. Self-affirmation, self-validation, self-approval all require that you balance this ability to open and close to your environment, and these very internal resources of affirming, validating, and approving of yourself are powerful in refueling and reenergizing you in each and every one of your moments. True power places the resources to gain energy within your own being.
There’s a curious distortion or meme some people take on that interferes with the ability to keep that balance of discerning between what elevates you and what depletes you. It’s an impression that says or asserts "you have to be nice and pleasing to all" but is rooted in a sense that says being nice to others means fixing their problems for them, taking on their baggage, and giving up your own fulfillment so that they can have theirs first. It says “they matter, but not me” or “they matter more than me”. It’s a martyr or self-sacrificing energy, generously distributed by culture in most cases, that says fulfilment and the blessings of life “should go to ‘them’ and not me” because that’s what it means to be a certain type of person (e.g. kind, spiritual, giving, family, a friend, a woman etc.).
It says “their needs are more important than mine. My needs can wait, they should get theirs met first.” It says some version of “I am not enough”. It says some version of “I’m not as worthy”. It says “I have to take care of them” even though the “them” in this equation are individuals who are fully capable of taking care of themselves, and who in some cases have more resources than you do. It’s a learned pattern, a learned or absorbed energy that ensures you always put yourself second to last. You don’t come first. Your needs, your wants, your desires, your experiences don’t come first. You don’t matter, at least not as much as “they” do.
Take a look at some of these statements and see how they feel to you:
You’re the only one who can manage your energy flow. You’re the only one who can manage where you are holding yourself, at what priority level, in your own nervous system. You’re the only one who can move yourself into harmony or move yourself into incoherence. You’re the only one who can move yourself into new realities and timelines more resonant with the qualities of life you desire. All of this is in your hands and in your power because you have total say in your vibration, in where and how you hold yourself, your energy flow, your expansions of consciousness. The amount of energy you have available to you in any moment is entirely dependent on what sorts of thought-forms you’re letting float about in your psyche, in your energy field.
If you at all find some resonance with the description of the non-conscious meme of self-sacrifice, it’s time to fully access it and clear it from your energy field. See it for what it is, a form of self-abandonment and self-betrayal. Set the intention to free yourself fully and completely from this meme and extend this intention as far back into your past as you desire, whether you go back to your childhood or extended into previous generations and incarnations. You matter. You belong right where you are. You’re uniquely important to life. You have a right to grow as much as you want. You have a right to flourish as much as you want. You have a right to be fully empowered. You have a right to be fully energized. You have a right to be fully awake. You have a right to be wholly powerful. You have a right to be fully loved, respected, cared for, and seen. Your voice matters. Your vision matters. Your creativity matters. Your existence matters. What you see, think, and feel has as much importance as anyone else. What you experience has equal importance to all others. What you need, want, and desire, has as much importance as anyone else’s needs, wants, and desires. What you long to express has as much value and validity as anything else in this vast Universe.
The point? You matter. You always have and you always will.
