There is no better time than now to remember the power of language. If you’re reading or listening to various news outlets, you’ll read or hear words like “these are uncertain times” or “these are trying times”. Notice for a moment what that language evokes in you. Friends, family members or strangers may be uttering the words “I’m going stir crazy”. Again, notice what images and sensations hearing or thinking that evokes in you. While there is no issue with describing your reality with honest emotion at the moment, you must be mindful of the emerging stories you begin to perpetuate.
Change at any scale, whether it’s in your personal life or a global health crisis that redefines your definition of normal, is always an opportunity to define and redefine who you are and who you are going to become. Whether it’s a job loss, a health scare, a relationship breakup, or a global event like we’re seeing now, that change in your reality impacts you on all levels. The impact is psychological, it’s physiological, it’s emotional, it’s relational, it ripples to touch every facet of your human experience.
To better fly toward your goals and dreams, you must bring yourself to transcend the limits of your ego regularly. Ego by nature is limited in its perspective – it is only ever “ground level” awareness. The personal story, the defenses, the personalized narrative that inevitably arises moment after moment is limited in its scope of understanding of the broader picture of life. Ego by its nature is focused only on the “me, myself, and I” experience, and this narrowed focus automatically and repeatedly excludes awareness of the dream supporting universal and cosmic forces that are always at play in each moment. Every moment is rich and pulsing with cosmic forces that are swirling and flowing to orchestrate the coming to fruition of your dreams and intentions.
At the crux of all sense of lack or incompletion in your reality rests the well-practiced activity of self-fragmentation. Self-fragmentation occurs when consciousness creates boundaries around specific aspects of self so that these aspects are blocked off or disowned. Through interactions with others and your environment, you hide, restrict, or constrict aspects of yourself for one reason or another.
You can simplify the process of intentional living by reminding yourself that there are two ways in which to experience your life. You can either experience a life fueled and driven by force and pressure, or you can experience a life that is mobilized by alignment and flow. Forced action and inspired action both involve taking action, but they have completely different energies. Forced action requires you to move through life by applying a dense current of energy to try and move things into being how you want them to be.
