![]() Where in your life are you tolerating discomfort? Where in your life are you putting up with tension and frustration? Where in your life are you allowing yourself to remain in a state of resistance? Where you are tolerating discomfort or tension is where you are remaining in a state of resistance. A good habit to develop within yourself is routinely checking to see if there is any area in your experience where you are tolerating discomfort, where you are living with even the slightest tension or feeling of un-ease. Every aspect of your life, from your career and relationships to your health, can be something that brings you joy, peace, and harmony. There are no exceptions to that. Whatever the situation, whatever the type of relationship you have with someone or something, it can be a source of complete peace, joy, and ease. Discomfort of any kind is your indicator to immediately shift your own point of focus, for you to take action inside yourself so that whatever the situation, it becomes what you are wanting to experience. Being conscious of the discomfort, that subtle indicator that the situation is not how you desire it to be, is the first step. "The best gift you can give to the world is personal transformation " - Lao Tsu One woman who came to me was in a relationship that was obviously in distress, and while she acknowledged this, her focus was on changing her partner. Her story was all about him and what he needed to do to make her at ease. But it doesn’t work like that. You cannot give all your power away to conditions outside of you and expect them to make you feel any one way, especially since you can’t change or control the things “out there”. You can only really change yourself, your own point of focus, perception – you can only change the story, and so the energy, you bring into your waking world. All change begins and ends with you, the observer, and that’s all that’s really needed. So my work with this woman was to first begin to turn her attention toward her own inner space, to examine what was going on, what it was she wanted to be experiencing, and begin to generate those states of being within her. Your “outside” will always respond and reorganize itself to what you are generating and anchoring within yourself. Not only are you not meant to tolerate and live with any kind of discomfort, but you have the unconditional power to dissolve it from your experience. Your peace, your sense of ease, your ability to manifest the reality you desire is not conditional or dependent upon the people and situations in your experience. You have much more power than that. These states are immediately accessible to you independent of some external source. You have the absolute power to move yourself into a state of peace regardless of what appears to be unfolding around you. You have the absolute power to move yourself into a state of ease regardless of what is or isn't showing up in your reality. You have the absolute power to move yourself into a state of joy and happiness. “There's only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that's your own self.” - Aldous Huxley Take a moment to scan all areas of your experience right now. Take a look at your relationship to your body, your health, take a look at your relationships whether at work or at home, take a look at the events of your world. Is there any part of your life where you’re just tolerating any kind of discomfort? Is there anywhere in your life where you're allowing some level of tension, or stress, or some subtle feeling of discomfort to remain? Scan to see if you feel that all areas of your experience are right now harmonious, peaceful, and open. Do you feel closed off or defensive or powerless in any area? If as you’re doing this, anything catches your attention, a relationship with a coworker or someone else, a situation that stirs even the slightest discomfort in you, this is an area of your experience where you want to begin to shift the energy within yourself. Step into the state of being you’d rather be experiencing on that topic right now – how would it feel if this situation was how you wanted it to be or even better than that? How would it feel if this relationship was how you wanted it to be or even better? Step into that state. Can you feel the difference? Do this consistently, feel that change in energy and story stabilize, and the picture in the world before you will transform before your eyes. As inside yourself, so out in your world – as within, so without. Your own transformation on any situation, the energetic change within yourself is the best gift you can give not only to the world around you, but to yourself also. It won’t serve you to put all your power on an external situation or on the behavior of someone else. Always come back to yourself, always choose to transform your own perspective and the point of focus from which you are observing the people and situations in your life. The more you practice being the center of your reality like this, the more you see that your own consciousness and how you orient it is the power behind everything, the more you live your choice to bring about harmonious, peaceful, and open moments all around you, in every aspect of your waking life.
